Shouchang Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Western Zhejiang. The Shouchang Formation was named by the Geological Team of West Zhejiang in 1959. The type locality is in the Shouchang Town of the Jiande County. The key section is the Yanxia – Zhaoyuan station section in the Jiande County of Zhejiang. Upper-Middle formation in Jiangde Gr.
Lithology and Thickness
The Shouchang Formation is divided into 3 members. Lower member is composed of grey, yellowish green siltstone with fine sandstone, dark grey shale, siliceous muddy siltstone, with tuffaceous sandstone locally. Middle member consists of grey, yellowish brown massive rhyolite tuff. Upper member is dominated by yellowish grey, dark gray siltstone, calcareous mudstone and shale, with tuffaceous sandstone and gravel-bearing sandstone locally. The thicknesses of 3 members are 347 m, 91 m and 777 m respectively.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The Shouchang Formation conformably contacts with the underlying Huangjian Fm.
Upper contact
The Shouchang Formation conformably contacts with the overlying Hengshan Fm.

Fossils
Abundant fossils were found in the Shouchang Formation. They belong to the Shouchang biota indicated by the elements of Mesoclupea shouchangensis, Probaicalia, Ferganoconcha, Menyinaia, Yanjiestheria, Eosestheria, Ephemeropsis trisetalis.
